Covent Garden is between St Martin’s Lane and Drury Lane on the eastern fringes of the West End of London. A former fruit-and-vegetable market and now a popular shopping and tourist site. Home of the Royal Opera House, itself known as “Covent Garden”. The district is divided by the main thoroughfare of Long Acre, north of which is given over to independent shops centred on Neal’s Yard and Seven Dials. The south contains the central square with its street performers and most of the historical buildings, theatres and entertainment facilities, including the London Transport Museum and the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.

Neal’s Yard is a small alley in Covent Garden between Shorts Gardens and Monmouth Street which opens into a courtyard. It is named after the 17th century developer, Thomas Neale.
In 1976, Nicholas Saunders established the bulk Whole Food Warehouse; at 2 Neal’s Yard. From this success, grew other enterprises in other buildings such as Neal’s Yard Coffee House, Neal’s Yard Bakery and Neal’s Yard Remedies.
The area now contains several other health-food cafes and retailers such as Neal’s Yard Dairy, Casanova & daughters, and Wild Food Cafe.
