Update: 2023 Summer Events

Spring forward to the summer with the start of events with the Cheltenham Festival which will begin on Tuesday, 15 March and ends on Friday, 18 March.

Four extraordinary days of racing. 14 Grade One races across four seven-race cards as the best horses, trainers and jockeys go head to head. Each of the 28 races offers something to savour and enjoy.

Cheltenham Festival Highlights:

• Day One – The Unibet Champion Hurdle
• Day Two – The Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase
• Day Three – The Ryanair Chase and Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle
• Day Four (Gold Cup Day) – The Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup

The first organised Flat race meeting in Cheltenham took place in 1815 on Nottingham Hill, with the first races on Cleeve Hill in August 1818. Racing’s popularity soared over the next decade with crowds of 30,000 visiting the racecourse for its annual two day July meeting featuring the Gold Cup, a 3m flat race.

1924 saw the introduction of The Gold Cup as we know it today.

Other events in March include England v Ireland rugby at Twickenham, plus two England international football matches at Wembley. Summer event highlights include some old favourites which we have missed over the last couple of years, including the return of the Farnborough Airshow.
