Alone in your wedding car

A newly married couple share time alone as a married item

Alone in your wedding car

Your wedding day so far has been an amazing experience. You have walked down the aisle, exchanged vows and are now walking hand in hand with your newly married partner. Yet it seems that this celebration of your love is somehow keeping you both apart. Wedding photographers, long lost aunties and other well meaning people are not allowing you to enjoy your first precious moments as a married couple together, alone. After posing (or so it might seem) for more photos than Kate Moss has done in her career. Your final pictures are of the two of you alone in your wedding car. Finally the door is closed by your chauffeur…

Your first journey as a married couple begins

As your wedding car pulls away from the happy throng, the confetti and wedding guests will fade in the rear view mirror allowing the two of you to share precious moments as a married couple. It could be that you both sit there in silence, possibly holding hands and staring into each others eyes as you savour and reflect on what you have just done. Other newly weds will ask the chauffeur to put on music, either favourite pieces that celebrate your courtship or soft classical pieces that carry on the theme of your wedding.

A little bit of preparation will go a long way here. Why not bring along your own CD (if your wedding car has a CD player of course). You might want different playlists for the journey to your wedding ceremony. A chance for the bride and father of the bride to celebrate this special time alone. Then as your married life begins in the wedding car. The bride and groom could have a special playlist of tunes to commemorate their courtship. It could be “your song”, a track from the Killers, The Beatles or something appropriate from Bach or Handel. Again this is your choice discuss this before hand. Just because you think you should be playing “Air on a G String” doesn’t always make it right for you. Choose pieces of music that both of you will enjoy. If the pair of you are big Motorhead fans then don’t be afraid of playing this in your wedding car. There are no wrong answers, choose what you like. Again discuss with your partner and when it comes to your wedding travel you both will enjoy the journey.

Enjoy a private wedding toast

Many couples find a glass of champagne together, toasting their wedding union is a fitting statement. Whatever the pair of you do - is your choice. Many other factors of the wedding are a compromise, you go along with and accept these demands. But this is the first time the two of you can truly be yourselves. You can leave your airs and graces with the wedding party, but finally alone in your wedding car you can embrace, cuddle or just take a big sigh of relief as the realisation of what the pair of you have done finally sinks in.

Months of planning and preparation for your special day can not really prepare you for the lavish attention that your wedding guests will en stow on the pair of you. As the wedding car door closes and cocoons you in silence for the first time. You will then be able to take some deep breaths and reflect on what has just happened. This wedding whirlwind will have you running round and a round. Only now will you be able to relax and enjoy each others company. You may find your a little shell shocked. You may never have experienced so much attention, and with all the work you have bestowed into arranging your wedding day, it can sometimes take a little while for you to actually enjoy the day.

Alone in your bridal car

Normally the bride will have travelled to the ceremony in the wedding car. So as she sits back on the seat she will feel safe and at home. Sharing the journey with her brand new hubby for the first time. When the car pulls away, heading for the reception, the two of you can finally be alone. This first journey as a married couple will always be special. Until you take this first nuptial journey you can’t really understand how this feels. For many people this first chance alone will allow you to take a step back and realise this is your wedding day. Unless the two of you can relax and enjoy the occasion you might find your wedding day passes so quickly. So sit back and relax. Enjoy the ride.

Sometimes unexpected emotions can surface in the car. It could be tears of joy or just the whole shock of it all. So be prepared to tell the photographer that you don’t want any more pictures taken till you get to the reception. Some couples may be basking in this attention, if so, maybe the photographer could be invited to take the front seat next to the chauffeur? You might want these pictures to remind you of your chauffeur driven journey in a glamourous Rolls-Royce wedding car. For many people this may be the first and last time to be driven in such an expensive and beautiful car and so photographs of the journey would become a lasting and special memento.

Enjoy your wedding day

The wedding celebrations may have begun, but on your chauffeur driven drive to the wedding reception you will be able to enjoy a magical break from it all, and get ready to really enjoy the wedding reception. Your wedding may have started as a blur, but with this first priceless time alone you’ll get the opportunity to relax and really enjoy the rest of your wedding day. You could even ask your wedding chauffeur to take the scenic route so that the two of you can savour each others company, alone as a wedded couple. Wedded bliss starts with your wedding journey, enjoy it!
