The story of the British and overseas members of the Special Operations Executive (SOE) who completed their secret training at the Beaulieu 'Finishing School' during World War ll.
Special Operations Executive (SOE) - Finishing School
'Finishing School' students learnt a variety of skills including arson, assassination, codes and ciphers, disguises, sabotage and silent killing.
The Special Operations Executive was was initiated by Winston Churchill and Hugh Dalton in July 1940, to conduct warfare by means other than direct military engagement.
The Final Sacrifice
Some 3,000 agents, including Andrée Borrell, Nancy Wake, Odette Sansome, Peter Churchill, Francis Cammaerts and Joachim Rønneberg, who later led the Gunnerside Mission to destroy the heavy water plant in Norway that was part of the German atomic bomb programme, were trained at a number of large country houses scattered across the Beaulieu Estate, before returning to occupied Europe to work with Resistance groups. Many of these agents paid the final sacrifice, and did not return.
Ian Fleming
The James Bond Experience, is a display of James Bond cars, boats and props from the hugely successful 007 movies. Fleming, who worked for Naval Intelligence, based some of his characters on real people. Like the former SOE agent, Christine Granville who was the inspiration for Fleming's Vesper Lynd character in Casino Royale.
