The Championships, Wimbledon, commonly referred to as simply “Wimbledon”, is the oldest event in the sport of tennis. It is widely regarded as the most important international tennis event and attracts the cream of tennis professionals.
Held every June and July at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London, United Kingdom, the tournament is the third Grand Slam event played each year. The tournament lasts for two weeks, subject to rain, and is the only Grand Slam event currently played on a grass surface.

The Artois Championships have for 30 years been a highlight of the male lawn tennis circuit. An important tournament during the lead up to the Wimbledon Championships which are held a week later. 2008 will be the last tournament using the Artois name. Next year the championships will sponsored by a new patron.
The championships are held at the Queens Club, Fulham and forms part of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Tour.

The Artois Championships is an annual lawn tennis tournament held during the run up to the Wimbledon Championships which are held a week later.
Recognised as one of the top 10 tennis events in the world. Since its inception in 1979, 25 of the last 27 Wimbledon champions have played at the Championships. Connors, Lendl, Edberg and Sampras are amongst the legends of the game who have proudly held the massive silver Artois Championships trophy aloft.
