Glorious Goodwood
Glorious Goodwood
Tuesday, July 28th – Saturday, August 1
Glorious Goodwood is widely regarded as the grand finale of the summer season. A wonderful mix of garden party, glamour and of course the gee-gees. This quintessential English summer event is steeped in history, and of course gentlemen must wear jackets and ties or cravats in the Richmond Enclosure. Whilst the Ladies are encouraged to wear hats. Jeans and shorts are not for Goodwood, thank you very much.
The racing starts on Tuesday, 28th July 2009 with the "Paul Goes the Extra Mile" race concluding on Saturday, August 1 with the Apprentice Stakes.
Described as the most beautiful racecourse in Britain, against the backdrop of the rolling Sussex Downs help set apart Goodwood from many other racecourses. Created by the third Duke of Richmond in 1801, Goodwood has become a firm favourite of the racing fraternity.
