The 2009 RBS 6 Nations championship will begin at newly developed Twickenham Stadium when England meet Italy on Saturday 7th February 2009 and end on Saturday 21st March with Wales vs Ireland at the Millenium Stadium.
The history of the 6 Nations
In 1871 England and Scotland played the first ever rugby union international. Over the years England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland competed against each other for various championships until 1910 when France officially joined the championship and the "Five Nations" championship began. In 2000, Italy joined this competition and the "6 Nations" was born.
