Goodwood Festival of Speed
Goodwood Festival of Speed 2008
11, 12 and 13th July 2008
The Goodwood Festival of Speed has since it’s introduction in 1993 become one of the highlights of the motorsport and social calendar. The present Earl of March was keen to bring back motorsport to Goodwood and now the Festival of Speed has grown from 25000 spectators to 150000 at last years event.
It is a rich and diverse celebration of the history of motor sport and car culture. A chance to watch some of motor racings all-time greats such as Stirling Moss share the track with some of the young guns of the sport, like a certain Lewis Hamilton.
Unlike many motor racing meetings, access to the paddocks is unrestricted, which means that spectators can get closer to the cars and drivers. The lawns of the House provide a great space for a picnic. Alongside some of the worlds most beautiful and innovative vehicles, which are judged in the Cartier ‘Style et Luxe’ design competition. The Festival of Speed has been described as ‘the garden party of the Gods’, which pretty much sums up this amazing spectacle.
Goodwood is an inspiring and unique location and the estate is home to the amazing Rolls-Royce factory.
