Dating back to 1215, the Lord Mayor’s Show is one of the longest running and best known annual events in London. This street parade is a mixture of pageantry and carnival. David Lewis was elected as 680th Lord Mayor for the City of London and will take his place in the large procession starting from the City of London to the Royal Courts of Justice in Westminster, where the newly elected Lord Mayor will swear allegiance to the Crown.
The Lord Mayor will travel in a State Coach pulled by six horses joining over 6000 other people including the giant guardians of the City of London - Gog and Magog.
The show’s dramatic finale will be begin at 5pm when the newly confirmed Lord Mayor will launch more than half a tonne of giant fireworks to light up London’s skyline. The best views are to be seen from the Victoria Embankment.
