Revolve Eco-Rally
Brighton to London Eco-Rally
Tuesday 5th June 2007
The London to Brighton veteran car run is the world’s oldest motoring event. Run since 1896, to celebrate the abolition of the red-flag, which was used to curb motoring pioneers speed limits. 111 years later, the Revolve Eco-Rally will reverse the route, starting from Brighton the event will finish in Trafalgar Square, London. The Eco-convoy will symbolically "reverse" the damage caused by automobiles, which is why the route runs from Brighton to London, the opposite direction to the veteran car run. It will bring together the state of the art in low-emission vehicles. From Hydrogen powered cars to fuel cell powered motorcycles along with hybrid powered cars, like the Lexus Hybrid shown above. Stirling Moss and Quentin Wilson will be just two of the celebrities taking part in the inaugural Eco-Rally.
The Eco-Rally Route
Starting from Brighton’s Madeira Drive at 11am, the eco-convoy will travel along the A23 to North End, Croydon at about 1pm. The cars will be on display for about 90 minutes. At 2.30pm the vehicles will leave Croydon, towards central London, passing over Westminster Bridge for arrival in Trafalgar Square at about 3.30pm. Spectators in Trafalgar Square will be able to follow the convoy on big screen and online via www.revolve.ws. The vehicles will remain in the Square to the evening and car manufacturers and fuel companies will be on hand to answer questions. A selection of the vehicles will be on display at the Science Museum starting from the 6th of June, for five days.
