Revolve Eco-Rally in London Trafalgar Square

The Revolve Eco-Rally as announced previously on Great British Events, was a fabulous success. The cream of eco-friendly cars and technologies, along with celebrities, dignitries and politicians gave the good people of Brighton, Croydon and London the chance to see an emission-free future. Conceived and planned by Revolve, the Brighton to London Eco-Rally demonstrated that low-emission vehicles are not just on the drawing boards but are now to be found on Britain’s roads.

With support from Transport for London, the large, diverse collection of vehicles included Bio Fuel, Hybrid, Electric, L.P.G and Hydrogen technologies. It showed not only prototypes but also vehicles that are available to buy or hire right now that could help start reducing your carbon footprint immediately.

iChauffeur were delighted to lend their support for this global cause, and are hoping that the 2008 Eco-Rally will build on the success of this inaugural event, to help inform and inspire people to rally behind the path to zero emissions.

Eco Friendly Lexus Hybrid

Brighton to London Eco-Rally

Tuesday 5th June 2007

The London to Brighton veteran car run is the world’s oldest motoring event. Run since 1896, to celebrate the abolition of the red-flag, which was used to curb motoring pioneers speed limits. 111 years later, the Revolve Eco-Rally will reverse the route, starting from Brighton the event will finish in Trafalgar Square, London. The Eco-convoy will symbolically "reverse" the damage caused by automobiles, which is why the route runs from Brighton to London, the opposite direction to the veteran car run. It will bring together the state of the art in low-emission vehicles. From Hydrogen powered cars to fuel cell powered motorcycles along with hybrid powered cars, like the Lexus Hybrid shown above. Stirling Moss and Quentin Wilson will be just two of the celebrities taking part in the inaugural Eco-Rally.

The Eco-Rally Route

Starting from Brighton’s Madeira Drive at 11am, the eco-convoy will travel along the A23 to North End, Croydon at about 1pm. The cars will be on display for about 90 minutes. At 2.30pm the vehicles will leave Croydon, towards central London, passing over Westminster Bridge for arrival in Trafalgar Square at about 3.30pm. Spectators in Trafalgar Square will be able to follow the convoy on big screen and online via www.revolve.ws. The vehicles will remain in the Square to the evening and car manufacturers and fuel companies will be on hand to answer questions. A selection of the vehicles will be on display at the Science Museum starting from the 6th of June, for five days.
