Great British Events

September 2014 Events

For the september events iChauffeur can chauffeur clients to, the Last Nights of the Proms.

September, the start of autumn. But that doesn’t mean the days and nights have to be dreary. Plenty is happening in London this month to brighten up the month.

For each day in September, it is the return of the iTunes festival. 30 concerts are happening at the Roundhouse from a range of Great British Artists.

Also in the world of music, there is of course the always popular Proms. Happening on Saturday the 13th of September, with the last night of the Proms occurring at Royal Albert Hall in a show that is sure to be as powerful as all the other Proms before it.

There is also the always stunning Angel Canal Festival, happening right in Islington. This is a great event for all of the family, with stalls, boat trips and an amazing street theatre.

Of course, in the middle of the month there Goodwood Revival, a great event which sees cars from years gone by race against each other. Here, everyone also participates in dressing up in a vintage style, making this an event that is loved by both car fans and fashion fans. This is an event that is always popular with our clients, and we’d be more than happy to help arrange travel for you to it.

And lastly, there is the London Open House Weekend, a city wide celebration of the buildings, places and neighbourhoods of London. Many landmarks are opening their doors for this monumental occasion.

With so much happening in September (as you can see below), it is going to be extra important this month that you arrange all of your travel and engagements carefully. If you would like a hand, please do contact our office team.

August 2014 Events

A woman wearing a beautiful hat, presenting the August events iChauffeur can provide travel to

August is a great month for kids and the older generation, with school being out for the month. For this reason, there may be a need to drive around London to experience everything that the capital has to offer.

At the start of the month is the Eld al-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan for the Islamic community. During this day, events will be happening all around London, but one of the main events will be the mass gathering in Trafalgar Square on the 2nd, as organised by the Mayor of London and Muslim groups.

There are many other events which are also all set to bring the streets of London to life. From festivals (such as the Canary Wharf Jazz Festival) to the large, main event at the end of the month; the Notting Hill Carnival.

Sunday is reserved as the children’s day of the Notting Hill Carnival, but it is not just here where children can find events to enjoy in London. In the middle of the month, between the 15th to the 17th, is the LolliBop festival. Last year saw favourite characters, including Peppa Pig, the Transformers and Justin Fletcher coming together in this celebration of childhood.

For the adults, two large and distinct beer festivals are happening, meaning you will need a driver with a topographical knowledge of London to be able to sample the different delights of both. From the 12th to the 16th of August at the Olympia, there is the Great British Beer festival, celebrating traditional English drink. On the 14th to the 17th, in Hackney, is the London Craft Beer Festival, displaying everything new and exciting in the beer industry.

June starts and ends with a bang with the London International Festival of Theatre (LIFT 2014). This is a special event for LIFT, with 2015 being it’s 20th year.  Events are taking place all over London, with theatre performances happening in the Barbican Centre, Southbank Center, the Institute of Contemporary Arts, as well as many other locations.

One great event, which you will definitely need transport for, is the London Wine Fair. It has undergone a revamp in 2014, with the dropping of “International” from it’s name, to focus on the British heritage of the great drink. Your driver will be more than happy to drive you to and from the festival.

Although the main event is trade only, the festival is also partnering with the London Cocktail Week and will launch a celebration of wine, with many restaurants, bars and wine merchants around London running wine related events to those with wristbands. Please do consider having a chauffeur for these events to get you back home safely! You will also be able to fully enjoy the events as well, with your driver being able to advise you on the best places to visit.

Wine, being perfect to drink while the sun’s rays are on you, is only one of many ways to enjoy the start of Summer in London. Near the end of the month on the 22nd, and carrying on through to July on the 25th, is the City of London festival. Many of the outdoor events for this are free, meaning this is a great chance to listen to music, and watch visual arts in the beautiful sun.

March 2014 Events

An image of a happy couple in side of one of iChauffeur's silver chauffeured wedding cars

Spring starts in March, with the month kicking off with The League Cup on the 2nd. In its 54th season, last year saw Swansea City win and receive £100,000 in prize money.

For those who feel more at home listening to music than watching the beautiful game, March also sees a series of great music events in London, including The X Factor Live Tour as well as Shane Filan from Westlife making a comeback. This, as well as many other music events, will be happening in the capital. If you ask your chauffeur, they are sure to be able to recommend you something to your tastes.

In the middle of the month, on the 16th, is the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade. This year, the “World of Dance” themed parade will be seen in Green Park, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square and Whitehall. In Trafalgar Square the main action is happening with entertainment, music, and food markets.

Sport Relief also starts again this month, rising to the challenge of raising money for vulnerable people both in the UK and abroad. At the Olympic Park, there is a chance for members of the public to take part in one of three events; running, swimming, and cycling.

To end the month is the Vogue Festival, a two day fashion exhibition. This two day fashion show, in association with Harrods, will see many big names coming together to show off the latest fashion ranges, take place in (and give) workshops, and to participate in discussions about the fashion industry.

December 2013 Events

A picture of London at night

As always, December is the time to reflect back on the previous year’s successes and to start thinking about how to make 2014 an even better year.

For some people, the Christmas season truly starts with the Santa Run over in Battersea Park. In this Great Event, people arrive, wear a (free) Santa outfit, and tackle a 5km Run. All proceeds from this event go to Home-Start, helping children get the best possible start in life.

The Christmas Spirit also arrives to the Royal Opera House, with The Royal Ballet company putting on (sure to be) great performance of The Nutcracker.

After Christmas Day, the celebrations continue, with the William Hill Winter Festival, a horse racing event which is a great choice to round off the year in style. On the 31st, the world will be celebrating another great year. Down over at the London Eye, the new year will be brought forward in style with Fireworks. However, no matter where you go in London on this night, you are sure to have a great time.
